RAMUS was engaged as the Lighting Specialist to bring this building to life after dark, transforming it into an illuminated digital experience that is an expression of the vibrant Parramatta community.

Façade Light

Phive’s signature red and orange facade draws its inspiration from the vibrant hues of Australian native flora: Waratah, Banksia, and Grevillea.

As evening falls, the library’s facade illuminates with carefully curated floodlights, casting a gentle glow that seamlessly integrate the roof and facade into one canvas. The light fixtures are strategically mounted within the architecture subtly dematerializing the structure without compromising its unique framework.

During events and festivals, programmable lighting animates the precinct’s iconic landmark, allowing it to speak for its community with a vibrant, dynamic voice.

In the quiet off-peak hours, soft soffit lighting delicately grazes the library’s edges and hollow spaces, infusing the building with a warm, ambient glow. This illumination brings a sense of lightness to the structure, making it appear as if it floats gracefully rather than being anchored to the ground.

Columns Screens

Upon entering the building, visitors are welcomed by 15 high resolution screens across all sides of the library. These external screens can respond and extend the visual content from the library’s internal media displays, transforming the building into an architectural canvas. This symphony of light and motion creates an ever-evolving, immersive experience for all visitors.

Internal Screen

Within the library, visitors will walk through an open space with multi-layered media screens as part of the digital exhibition.

For the movement and aesthetic of content across the digital screens, RAMUS produced ‘Texture of Parramatta’, a series of visual content that capture the essence of Parramatta’s nature, history and people. The visual content transforms the library into an interactive space, connecting the community with Parramatta’s rich heritage and vibrant culture.
