Light House: 888 Collins Street
We collaborated with Lendlease to deliver a world-first light art installation – Melbourne’s real-time weather display. Towering lines of LED cleverly sync to create a luminous interactive façade that responds to rainfall, cloud-cover, wind speed and temperature.
The 15-storey 888 Collins Street façade interprets incoming weather data and translates it into beautiful digital visualisations on the hour. The building displays the next day’s forecast from a Bureau of Meteorology data feed through a generative visual interpretation.
At all other times, the façade reflects real-time weather conditions collected by a weather station on the rooftop. Follow our works over on instagram.
The idea is to reflect the community and the environment they live in. This is not about data, it’s how the weather feels and how we can represent that visually. – Bruce Ramus.
The first light installation of its kind, our reactive luminous skin interprets incoming weather data and translates it into beautiful digital visualisations.
