Queens Wharf Brisbane
Sunny Brisbane… it’s your time to shine at night!
RAMUS was invited to produce and program large-scale visual content for the prestigious Queen’s Wharf precinct, transforming Brisbane’s newest entertainment destination into a world-class light exhibition. From The Star’s dazzling new façade and grand Atrium to the historic Commissariat Store and Former DPI Building, our work covers across multiple iconic sites, capturing Brisbane’s energy, culture, and heritage.
The Star Facade Lighting:
Shining along the banks of the Brisbane River, The Star Hotel and Casino’s brand-new façade beams with vibrant energy. RAMUS crafted an upbeat visual series that reflects the building’s lively atmosphere, transforming the structure into a dynamic light show.
The Star Atrium Step Screens:
Upon entering, guests are greeted by the custom LED screens embedded in the grand staircase. RAMUS directed and produced visual content to display on the LED screens.
During the hour, the screens play ‘Light of Brisbane’, a visual series featuring iconic scenes of the city’s natural environment, culture and people, welcoming visitors into the heart of Brisbane.
Every half hour, feature shows—Fractal Flowers, Royal Regal, and Urban Moves—come to life on the screens, enriching The Star’s vibrant and luxurious charm. Each show tells a unique, evolving story, revealing intricate details that invite a second look.
Commissariat Store:
As Queensland’s oldest occupied building, the Commissariat Store stands as a monument to the state’s early history. RAMUS honours this legacy with ‘The growth of the Commissariat’, a projected animation series, reimagining the journey of Brisbane’s first settlers who travelled across the oceans.
Inspired by the rich heritage of the precinct, these stories are told in a contemporary style through light and movement, precisely mapped onto each architectural detail of the facade, from the building’s outline to individual window frames.
Former DPI Building (Department of Primary Industries):
The DPI is a heritage building in the precinct, RAMUS produced ‘The Commandant’s Garden’, a series of living murals that playfully explore the horticultural history of the DPI building.
From the tops of the fruit trees to the depths of the Brisbane River, each scene is its own world depicting flora and fauna. Hidden details hint at a larger story and reveal aspects of the building’s history and inhabitants.
RAMUS team integrated all sites together using our smart control system, CORE. The system allows the onsite operations team to easily monitor, schedule and troubleshoot each installation. It also enables clients to tailor visual content directly, syncing to the foot traffic, events, and festivals. CORE helps Queen’s Wharf precinct to reflect the rhythm of Brisbane, making it an ever-evolving part of the city’s night life.
