History
Bruce Ramus is a light artist. Ramus presents his works as compelling platforms for both personal and civic expansion, designed to reflect our environment, encourage social engagement and articulate our visual civic voice. He has designed and directed countless live international shows, for bands U2, R.E.M. and artists David Bowie, Bryan Adams, David Byrne, Guy Sebastian, James Brown. He directed the lighting design for artists’ appearances on the Academy Awards, Grammys, MTV Awards, ARIAs and Super Bowl Halftime Shows.
In 2006, Bruce moved to Melbourne. As he became increasingly aware of the emerging presence of large-scale digital screen technology in our cities, Bruce recognised a space to channel his show direction experience into non-imposing, integrated works that support inclusive urban communities. Bruce formed Ramus Illumination to contribute to and support this artistic and social vision.
Bruce combines long-term vision with designing grand-scale theatrical experiences. He and his studio present a new art form, offering an integrated canvas that both reflects the environment and encourages public engagement.
Whether artistic consultancy or end-to-end lighting design delivery is needed, we design a tailored approach for each client.
