888 Collins Street has launched as Melbourne’s first real-time weather display! Soaring up a full 15 storeys, this facade lighting design from Ramus is a mixture of public artwork, low-res digital screen and architectural lighting installation.
When you are looking up at the beacon of light from the pavement or catching a glimpse from a distance you will see a series of abstracted visualisations that indicate current weather data and for 5 minutes on the hour the forecast for the coming day.
So how do you interpret these abstracted visual representations? The designers at Ramus have put together this interpretation sheet as a visual guide to decode what is happening on the building and why.
